*Mashup Monday*

JRowe produced a bubbly head bumper with his mashup, “Bounce My Beach House” – a perfect jam to ease you into your Monday right! Assuming you had a rough wake up this Monday morning after a successful weekend of partying, this will literally add a “bounce” (pun intended) in your step, and help you power through the rest of your day.

JRowe remixed Sex Ray Vision’s original dance track, “My Beach House”, with Kelis’s vocals from “Bounce”. When I think of Kelis, I instantly revert back to, “My milkshake brings all the boys to the yarrrd…” but apparently she has transitioned from R&B into a more eclectic dance-pop sound – and I like it!
Definitely check this out.

Mashup Monday

Straight fire. 3LAU always does it big, and raises the bar for remix artists, and “Yacht Week In America” (click to stream) reaches the usual high standards he’s set for himself. This electro infused mashup paints the picture of the infamously glamourous party that is Yacht Week. I tried to go last year after I graduated, but my parents did not think it was an “appropriate” graduation gift – Really? Sending me to Europe to live on a yacht and party throughout the Mediterranean for a week isn’t parent friendly?
Anyways, 3LAU personifies this legendary party by mashing, “Where Dem Girls At” by David Guetta, Katy Perry’s “TGIF”, Swedish House Mafia’s “Leave The World Behind”, “Under the Sheets” by Ellie Goulding, “Wet” by Snoop, “Miami to Atlanta” by Pryda, the Lucky Date remix to “Do It In The AM”, and Kaskade’s “Move For Me”.

I’ve definitely been posting tons of mashups and remixes lately, but I honestly can say the talent is never ending with these guys. This song is not that “fresh” but it’s definitely worth checking out. Hood Internet (aka Aaron Brink/ ABX and Steve Reidell/ STV SLV) have been grinding out mashups (a mix of hiphop and indie rock) from their home base in Chicago since 2007, but most recently have caught my ear. Out of their literally 400 million mixes (*Disclaimer* I haven’t listened to them all yet), I love their mashup “Pumped Up Kicks” ft Hollywood Holt and Billie “Wildcat” Jean from their mixtape “The Mixtape Volume Four” in 2009.

Their blog, “The Hood Internet” created such a fan base that they now perform live DJ sets of their tracks (check them out in Chicago at the North Coast Music Festival in September). The duo’s most recent mixtape “Mishka Presents: Trillwave” (2010) has their popular track “Barry Bonds 1993”, which is a mash up of Kayne West, Lil Wayne & Signify.

JRowe has been on his grind lately.

“Bounce My Beach House” turned into one of my favorite mashups of the summer, and he just dropped THREE other mashes this week that are equally addicting.

My favorite is “The World You Seek” which uses Amanda Wilson’s vocals from Samuele Sartini’s, “Love U Seek,” which was used in Avicii’s, “Seek Bromance” (one of my fave’s), and instrumental from “Top of the World” by Joe Garston. A feel good beat that will make you bounce (my beach house), and will definitely get you pumped up this Friday night, even if Hurricane Irene has her eye on you.

JRowe also went over two David Guetta beats to produce “Lunar Rock”, and “Lay the Sunshine on Me.” It is very rare to say that I love all the songs involved in a mashup but in these cases, I do.

“Lunar Rock” uses Guetta’s instrumental track, “Lunar” and Kevin Rudolph’s, “Let It Rock,” which I recently featured in a Throwback Thursday post because it is so very reminiscent of the college days…

Lastly, JRowe grabbed David Guetta and Avicii’s track, “Sunshine” and threw Big Sean and Kelly Rowland’s verses from “Lay It On Me” right over it; Do I sense a Guetta/Avicii trend here, hmm? Regardless, it’s working.

Welcome to ‘Whomp Your Humpday’.

After throwing around some ways to incorporate “whomp” into a routine Wednesday post, we jokingly stumbled upon ‘Whomp Your Humpday’ as the the humpday jokes began flowing, but it kind of fits nicely…

So for our first one, I bring you a “Seek Bromance” remix by Conspirator, who is an electro house act from Philly; The badass thing about them is that they play live instruments during their sets to really bring a unique element and sound quality to their productions. They coordinated with Avicii to bring you this release, and although the core of that phenomenal song is still prevalent, they add their own flavor to the mix.

ps.. I know it’s not pure dubstep for heavy whomps but it’s an electro smash that’s close enough

Happy Mashup Monday!

I recently went through a phase where all I listened to were mashups for a while until I got so sick of all of them and had to take a break for about a month. “Mo Free, Mo Fallin” re-inspired this love for me and it’s not just because one of my favorite artists, Tom Petty, is featured. The White Panda have released some sick mashups in the past two years, starting from when they first paired up in 2009. Since then, they’ve released albums “Versus” and “Rematch” and finally DJ Griffi & Procrast completed their third album, “Pandamonium”, which debuted in March. If you’re a fan OR if this is your first time hearing The White Panda be sure to check out “Stereo Hands”, “Children of the Lights” and “Til the Bromance Ends”.

This is like a halfie for ‘Mashup Monday’ (and halfies are always the best); Milkman was a mashup artist turned electronic dance-party oriented artist, and knocks it out of the park (unlike the Sox) with his new single, “Words”. So although this isn’t a mashup, it’s an electro banger that reminds me of some of Skrillex’s best tracks.

Definitely check this one out.

*Mashup Monday*

Dude I know I’m behind, but Yoni gets after it again with “Those Good Feelings”, mashing Maroon 5 vs. Usher and David Guetta vs. Deniz Koyu. Personally, I thought Usher and David Guetta’s “Without You” was one of the best songs off of Nothing But the Beat, and although “Moves Like Jagger” got better with time, these two coupled with Deniz Koyu flow perfectly. This might be one of my favorite mixes from him…check it outtt.
