"Take Me Home" – Cash Cash
Jun 2013 06

Holy hot sauce, this is exactly what I needed.

After a few missteps this past week, my salacious summer vibes came to a stark halt. My summertime enthusiasm was striving to stay afloat when it should have been at an all time high – and with rain in the forecast for this weekend, I absolutely needed this song.

BAM. Out of nowhere, the Jersey boy trio, Cash Cash smacked some sunshine in my veins and brought me out of the slump with their latest hit, “Take Me Home.” Bebe Rexha quite literally takes it home with the vocals, and delivers a euphoric, roller coaster high, over the energetic beat.

Summer dayz have arrived.

Musikk Video: Hot Chip – “How Do You Do?”
Oct 2012 09

Holy Hot Chip! I am loving Hot Chip’s latest single, “How Do You Do?,” and I know I’m not the only one! This funky, upbeat jam breathes nothing but sheer joy into my soul.

The video for this song is basic, but fun! Utilizing little more than a green screen and some far-out imagery, Hot Chip successfully gives simple, happy-go-lucky visuals that will elevate your mood & get you bouncin’ to the beat.

Grab that person in your life who makes you want to live again & dance!

Kreayshawn – Go Hard (Valentino Khan Remix)
Oct 2012 08

Kreayshawn is a girl I can get down with any day of the week. I mean, the success this young gun showed with “Gucci, Gucci” and “Breakfast (Syrup)” is pretty unreal, not to mention this Breezy B out of Oakland knows how to spit fast, dirty rhymes that will keep her in the game for years to come. To top off this chart topper, we have a sickk remix of Kreay’s “Go Hard” by L.A. underground electronic hip-hop wizard, Valentino Khan.

Valentino Khan is one of the best producers in the game, producing hit songs for hip-hop acts B.O.B., T.I. and 2 Chainz, so it’s no surprise he knows exactly what to do with Kreayshawn’s monster, “Go Hard.”

Yes, it may be Monday, but that’s the best possible day to reflect on all the “Go Hard” moments you had with your clique this past weekend in the club (if only you could remember).

Cop that free download above!

(New Album) The Presets – Pacifica
Sep 2012 18

As I previously mentioned, I’m totally infatuated with  The Presets! This epic electro-rock duo from Down Under have supplied me with countless hours of entertainment & musical bliss. Their last album, Apocalypso, is dark dance genius that is constantly streaming on my Spotify account. My prayers were answered last week when The Presets released their newest album (which you can sample above), Pacifica.

Per it’s name, Pacifica seems to pull more inspiration from Oz itself & is less dark than Apocalypso (which explored the interplay between the “good times” and the “End Times,” with the title being a portmanteau of apocalypse and calypso). The duo, consisting of Julian Hamilton on vocals and keyboards, and Kim Moyes on drums and keyboards, utilize their Australian upbringing in the lyrics, vocals and drumming beats they’ve manipulated for this South Pacific house sound that paints a picture of paradise found beyond Apocalypse, in a land called Pacifica.

My current favorites on the album are “Fall” and “Promises,” with “Youth In Trouble” rounding out third. Honestly, the whole album is great. The Presets have always done an amazing job of evolving their music, so while they have a consistent & recognizable sound (thanks to Julian’s 80s glam-rocker voice), Pacifica is an original success: setting a new tone for fans while ringing true to everything that makes The Presets one of the best groups in electro-rock music today.

Fresh Musikk: Summer Sunset, August Playlist 2012
Sep 2012 07

I know, I’m an asshole.

I’ve been slacking on the monthly playlists – but I’ve reinstated a strong determination to start back up. And what a way to make a comeback with this unfiltered cover art of one of the best summer sunset’s I witnessed…

As the summer comes to a close, it’s imperative to keep those sunny, uplifting vibes vibing as we make the transition to cooler weather; The sky gets a little darker, the mood a little more subdued… but if you throw on this playlist you can be transported back to the feelings of water sports, daygers, and summer love  lust.

The following Spotify list is the top songs we posted about in August, featuring the vocal stylings of: Passion Pit, Sun City, Air Traffic Controller, ScHoolboy Q, Frank Ocean, Lovelife, Cudi, and so much more!

Enjoy the last few weeks of summer and remember that there are things to look forward to in the fall…like tailgating, #sweaterweather, and Spring Break…

Sunnies Friday: “Illuminate” – DJ Change ft. Brenton Matheus
Aug 2012 24

Go ahead, light up your weekend. Better yet, “Illuminate” it with the help of this track by DJ Change featuring Brenton Matheus.

I’ve been sitting on this one for a few weeks and it’s about time that I got my act together. The all original mix oozes warm weather and summer vibes – perfect for my California destination. The uplifting production is absolutely made for a dance floor setting, and the rising vocals match the crescendo of sounds, that maximize that party effect. Raise the volume on this one if you just hit the college campus!

A sunny song for Sunnies Friday.
