Disclosure – "When A Fire Starts To Burn"
Jun 2013 03

This track is absolute fire & shows no signs of being put out anytime soon. Disclosure, the British electronic duo consisting of brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence, has been on the rise the past few years, touring with the likes of SBTRKT and Hot Chip, and releasing their latest album, Settle (now available on iTunes).

Their music is a funky breathe of fresh air in the electronic scene, offering cool beats with unique hooks. Don’t just take it from me, check out Settle for yourself and put some fire in your shoes.

Co-Debut: The Neighbourhood – "No Grey" & The 1975 – "Milk"
Jun 2013 05

I’ve been lucky enough to see both The Neighbourhood and The 1975 live; both groups are rising stars in the indie rock sector, and captivate their audiences through their unique stylings, which have turned into signature sounds.

The joint post attributes to The Neighbourhood releasing three limited split 7″ singles, each of which will feature new releases from their supporting acts: Lovelife, The 1975, and JMSN.

The latest brings “No Grey” from nbhd, and “Milk” from The 1975. “No Grey” is the quintessential nbhd song, with moody, mysterious vibes, and dark undertones; and subsequently, “Milk” reflects The 1975’s uptempo, British, indie rock!

"Take Me Home" – Cash Cash
Jun 2013 06

Holy hot sauce, this is exactly what I needed.

After a few missteps this past week, my salacious summer vibes came to a stark halt. My summertime enthusiasm was striving to stay afloat when it should have been at an all time high – and with rain in the forecast for this weekend, I absolutely needed this song.

BAM. Out of nowhere, the Jersey boy trio, Cash Cash smacked some sunshine in my veins and brought me out of the slump with their latest hit, “Take Me Home.” Bebe Rexha quite literally takes it home with the vocals, and delivers a euphoric, roller coaster high, over the energetic beat.

Summer dayz have arrived.

Classixx – Hanging Gardens
Jun 2013 07

Last week my life was basically made complete when I finally saw The Presets live for the first time. To add icing on the cake, another of my fav pop groups, Dragonette, was opening for them… and opening for them was Classixx! I mean, could it get any better?

Well, I’m remiss to say that due to an extremely long work day and a fellow concert-goer being late, my crew missed seeing Classixx when they took the stage at 8pm last Tuesday (that said, 8pm is really early & it was almost impossible to pregame AND make it to the show in time).

While I’m upset I missed them live, I’ve been listening to them non-stop since. Hanging Gardens is an album chalk-full of cool dance tracks in the vein of Grum, Daft Punk‘s Random Access Memories and Flight Facilities. That’s right, it’s breezy, disco-inspired dance music perfect for summer.

Fav tracks: “All You’re Waiting For” (feat. Nancy Whang), “I’ll Get You” (feat. Jeppe), “Holding On,” “Borderline” (feat. Jessie Kivel).

Stream below & cheap lasix enjoy!

"More Than Normal" – Alan Wilkis ft. Childish Gambino
Jun 2013 13

By freak chance, I happened to break out Camp from the archives earlier this week, and gave the album some playing time.

Then, boom – new music from the one and only, buy prednisone online Childish Gambino! Maybe my sixth sense kicked in, and subconsciously prepped me for new tuneage – Either way, Childish links up with producer, Alan Wilkis, for a refreshing, interesting track.

“More Than Normal” combines Gambino’s lyricism with a bluesy, American-rock-feel, resulting with a song full of rich, full sounds, and intriguing production.

Poolside – "If We Make It"
Jun 2013 14

Poolside first caught my ear with their 2012 album, Pacific Standard Time, and have been a staple in my summertime playlists ever since. Breezy beats, cool lyrics and warm vibes make Poolside a standout in my mind.

Poolside’s latest, “If We Make It,” does not depart from the sound they worked so hard to master in Pacific Standard Time. Retro percussion perfectly compliments the modest synths and funky bass to glorious effect. It’s getting hot out… do yourself a favor and slip out of purchase viagra without a prescription those uncomfortable clothes and dive into this cool summer sound.

Concert Review: !!! (chk chk chk)
Jun 2013 14

A few weeks ago my order cheap propecia buddy Mike asked me if I wanted to go see !!! (pronounced Chk Chk Chk) at Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco. A band I’ve never heard of? Playing at a venue I’ve never been to? Sign me up. I tried Googling the group so I could hear a few songs before the show, but the all-powerful search engine failed to produce any results for “!!!.” Apparently the band is un-Googleable–how edgy. My ignorance of !!! made the show all the more enjoyable; this dance-punk band produced a sound not unlike a Ratatat-Prince-LCD Sound System combination. Bold statement, I know, but these guys were good! Have a listen.

‘The Bling Ring’ Soundtrack + Sofia Coppola Interview
Jun 2013 20

As I’m sure y’all know, Hermione Granger is transferring into Slytherin this weekend by way of Sofia Coppola’s latest film, The Bling Ring. (Translation: Emma Watson sheds her good-girl image by bumping blow and robbing celebs in Coppola’s latest film, The Bling Ring).

What you may not know is that Sofia Coppola, apart from being an incredible director, also has bomb taste in music. I mean, she is married to Thomas Mars of Phoenix, after all. The soundtrack to The Bling Ring features M.I.A., Rye Rye, 2 Chainz, Kanye West, Sleigh Bells, Azealia Banks, Frank Ocean and, of course, Phoenix, among talented others.

I sat down with Coppola to discuss her film, the celebrity-obsessed culture we live in, social media, and, of course, the soundtrack! You can read my entire interview with Sofia here.

Be sure to check out The Bling Ring as it hits theaters nationwide this weekend. In the meantime, you can stream the soundtrack below!
